We have already reviewed Tweetbot app about which the users of initial versions have the idea that its almost more than three years since the launch of first version of this application. Tweetbot is the best twitter based third party app for the the chronic twitter users. Due to a large number of users on iPhone and iPod Touch, this app kept on updating periodically. The latest update is for the all new iOS 7 operating system. We know that after iOS 7 almost all the apps needed to be updated as the icons shape has also been changed so Tweetbot has also done the same by updating their app to version 3. The only difference from the previous version is that Tweetbot 3 is a paid app that used to be Free for all. Now this difference is difficult to digest especially for those users who are using this app since long. Yes it was difficult for me as well as I am sure, Tapbots (the developers of Tweetbot) must have not reinvented the wheel by releasing the newer version. But once I started using this app, I came to know that this price is worth some money as Tapbots have kept a price tag of $2.99 which honestly seems much cheaper when I came to know about all its features.
Features of Tweetbot 3
Tapbots (developers) has removed some of the old gestures tweetbot to speed up navigation keeping the app simple to use. In Tweetbot 3.0, you would only be able to swipe from right to left, but now shows the detail view tweet and timeline of conversations, which requires two previous actions. The application also supports iOS Dynamic Type feature of latest iOS 7 in which Tweetbot allows to display your tweets with the size of the font selected in the phone settings.
Tweetbot 3 Tab Bar
The Tab bar is as customizable as before, and especially enjoyed a new tweak: Open a link no longer reaches the entire screen, which allows navigation between tabs without closing the browser within the application.
Tweetbot 3 Design
The design carries maximum weight-age. For instance, just see this as a simple re-skinning of Tweetbot for iOS 7 however, it’s much more than that. Tweetbot 3 has been completely rebuilt, and this is the first application of Twitter which is compatible with the 64-bit A7 chip found in the iPhone 5s, thus it also becomes the fastest Twitter app at the time it is launched. Besides all these, the app features beautiful animations of all natural physics when viewing images, and gorgeous parallax effect is also visual on images while viewing profiles header.
Multiple Accounts Support
Tweebot 3 still supports multiple Twitter accounts, and you can do everything you normally would with the service. Navigation is simple with a menu bar that resides at the bottom of the screen, with 5 different buttons. These are your timeline , mentions and direct messages, with the last two customizable buttons that are to be switched between the favorites , lists, re-tweets , searches, filters vulgar and profile. To change one of the last two icons, simply tap and hold the button, then a pop -up list showing the available button options is presented.
Filter of Silence
The filter of silence is one of my favorite features of the application, as it allows me to ignore certain keywords that I’m tired of looking at my timeline, and that even you can mute a user who is getting on my last nerve without actually unfollow or block them , saving all the inevitable pain and frustration. I can say that my silence filter specific keywords, along with more than a few users which absolutely helps to keep my Twitter accounts orderly and less frustrating.
Translucent frosty panes used in case when the accounts screen and profile views. Everything feels fresh and futuristic and much like a poster child for the Apple design aesthetic that developers wanted to take away from your new address.
Profile Views with Photos
Another new addition to the profile views, and the effect of parallax header images, is the section Recent Photos at the bottom. You’re limited to just those 16 images and there are no options to load more or scroll through the images like the Twitter app allows you to do. I like this feature because it is a quick way to see the latest pictures you may have missed, and displays any image uploading service that supports Tweetbot.
Tweets Update and Compose
All new and a very useful feature in Tweetbot 3 app is that how it shows the number of new tweets that have arrived after every refresh. The numbers at the top right of the timeline, just below the compose button that makes it easier to see without being seen by blocking anything or remove property. Composing a tweet can be done anytime you see the “Compose” button in the top right corner. The good thing is that the timeline keeps on updating itself, without the need to pull to update again and again and the same happens with the tweet number indicator.
You have the option to sync the last read tweet using TweetMarker service. This service is used by other Twitter apps (Twitterrific for iPhone / iPad and Mac, Tweetings for iPhone / iPad and a Chrome extension for Twitter so far). This is a great service and I hope to see it integrated into other applications of Twitter.
The controls of the application are quite simple, swipe left opens a new view tweet tweet, offering to take a look at the answers and the media related to the tweet. Unlike official Twitter app, Tweetbot supports Instagram. To view an image in full screen, tap a photo and to close it, it needs to move away. Tapping on a tweet in your timeline reveals all the usual options, including the ability to reply, retweet, favorite, share and view details. Tweetbot 3 for iPad’s work is in progress and should be released shortly. [Read: Top Best Twitter Apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch]
